Dear Friends,
I am currently working on an essay highlighting the points of view of black men from various backgrounds. In my survey, I will attempt to address questions about the black men that people want to know the answers to. Questions like: What does the election of the first African American president, Barack Obama mean to you? Other questions should concern racism, relationships, sex, politics, perceptions of black men in the world. I need your help in this way. I need suggestions from you concerning the questions I should include in my survey / research. Please supply me with a provocative question that you feel the world would want answered about us. Bernie Madoff. What an appropriate name for a man who made off with so much money, from so many people, for so long. If we were in the age of stoning, today, he would have been stoned to death–not that I wish violence upon him. I do think the fed pen is a good place for him right now. There, he can think about the legacy he will be leaving for his childen and grandchildren. My father, the crook. My grandfather, the blue collar criminal. How can he sleep at night and think about the faces of the parents and grandparents who thought they were saving money for their children and grandchildren? How can he he sleep while the faces of the elderly haunt him who have lost their entire life savings and retirement money? He has effected the economic futures of many exacerbated by the failed economy and systematically created a world of grief for the many unfortunate who trusted him. Having lost nothing to him, even I could write volumes on how his deeds sicken me. I only hope he gets down on his knees and prays to God for forgiveness for many people want have the heart to do that.
